Apesanteur

Apesanteur

Serax

APESANTEUR is a collection of 3 blown glass vases.
Each piece consists of 2 distinct parts:
-a clear glass vase, rounded shaped
-a cylinder base in sandblasted borosilicate glass.
The vase can be used onlyk when balanced on its base. I wanted these pieces to depend on each other and be linked in a subtle and delicate way. I like the idea of a levitate and light vase, hence its «apesanteur» name. The transparent glass was naturally created, no color or ornament needed.

However the contrast between transparent and frosted glass harmoniously emphasizes the distinction between the two parts.
This vase has no flat surfaces, but the cylinder perfectly matches its outline to create stability and balance. The top part is made with a blown cane by a craftsman in the Veneto area of Italy. The lower part is made in France by a chemical glassware company.
The pieces fit together, but the the vase remains in «apesanteur», i.e., suspended and weightless.
